Cutting the crosses for the inner sleeve

Using the circles as a guide I begin cutting the "east-west" portions. Notice that the cut is not all the way to the edge. This is because this first cut is quick and rough. A finer cutting tool will be used later to bring the piercing right ot the edge of the circle for a very symmetrical pattern.
